Mold build up

Submitted by MRod3922 - 5/12/2019

We have had this washer dryer combo for just over a year now and have had multiple issues with this washing machine building up mold quickly. We always leave the top of the washer open after use to air out, but the agitator plate within the drum is poorly designed. I constantly have to clean out the mold that builds up within the plate. We use the affresh cleaning tablets as well and this doesn't help one bit. I took apart the agitator plate and found a large amount mild build up between the the plastic piece and aluminum metal that covers the plastic. This is definitely not acceptable and unwanted. Mold pieces break off and end up on our clothes. The washing machine develops a terrible smell and your clothes will get mold in it. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone unless Samsung finds a solution.

Best washer out there. Did I mention it's huge!

Submitted by Stormn - 5/7/2019

When our old machine took its last spin and died we researched a lot of washers. This caught our eye and glad it it. We wanted an agitator free machine. CHECK. We love the electronic display and the option the u it offers. It quite, very very quite. You forget you turned it on quite. Doesn't rattle the house and dished. I like the lid lock feature. Super energy efficient. In return the loads run longer but our cloths actually are noticeably cleaner. Much more so than the Maytag we had that died. Did I mention it's huge.. you can wash what you want and it's auto water level system is cool. Download the app and track its progress or any problems. None yet. We hit a great sale on this and glad we did. We love it.

Washer review

Submitted by nana2019 - 5/5/2019

We have had our set for four months. I was unsure what to expect after reading the disparity of reports, but have other Samsung appliances and took the plunge. We are very satisfied. If you are expecting the same water fill, agitation etc of your nonHE washer, you should know this will seem different. It is not worse, just different. I am also a nurse, have grandkids, a dog, a yard, a garden, love to craft and cook. I have had no problems with the washer and feeling like stains were removed or the clothes cleaned. If I have blood on something or a stain I am concerned about, i use a detergent booster or pretreat, just as I have always done. I appreciate the water saving features and do not feel it compromises cleaning ability. It IS different. But change can be good.

Not working after a year and a half

Submitted by momlifelaundry - 3/29/2019

We bought this washer brand new after looking at several brands and models. The reviews seemed pretty decent and it was in our price range. I'm so disappointed!! We have only had it for a year and a half and it won't finish a load. It gets stuck in the rinse/spin cycle and will turn off and on multiple times (the whole day if we let it). We have to unplug it, let it sit for a while then try and move stuff around and force it to drain the water and spin. It never shows any error codes. We ran it through the test cycle multiple times to see if there was an error and nothing! I finally called a repair guy and he said honestly it could be a number of things... It could be the control board but that's a few hundred dollars. He also said ALL SAMSUNG AND LG appliances are horrible.

Arrived broken

Submitted by Washer never worked - 3/16/2019

I got this washer yesterday. The installation crew did delivery and installation. Set it to run to see it would start but did not stay. It was running for 2h+ before we shut it off (that is on spin/rinse cycle 23m on the timer). The clock counts down gets to ~9 and bumps up to 12ish and repeates this process over and over again. Called support this morning, as soon as the opened, and they agreed it was broken and would send someone out in 4-5d. FYI - They open at 9 eastern standard time on the weekends. They did not seem the least bit suprised that it could have arrived broken. Clearly a lack of a quality control process. If the had tried to run this washer on any cycle they would have identified the problem. As the washer does not stop by itself. It never gets going well enough to ring out the material. The manual suggests your test run use towels which are the worst when water logged.

Submitted by Someone who wasnot a fan - 3/10/2019

I bought this washer 1-2 months ago, at first it wasn't washing good, but I thought it was because I didn't know how to use it, so I gave myself time to learn how it works. Weeks past, it still wasn't working. All my clothes would come out soaking wet.. I HATED IT... best believe I returned it and got myself a better washer... don't let the name fool you.. Only because its "Samsung" doesn't mean it works all that great.

I hate this washer!!!!!

Submitted by Kay P - 3/8/2019

We've had this washer for over a year an I hate it more everyday, it will not fill with the correct amount of water for each load....for example I put a complete set of queen size sheets including pillowcases the water doesn't even cover them, so you know they are not getting clean! I change the settings, still the same thing!! We've had it in 2 different homes, so it's not the water supply, it's the washer....Don't buy this washer!!!

another failed washing machine

Submitted by smjuster - 2/18/2019

After 18 months the drum and motor failed. On it's last legs now. The manufacturer warranty of 3 years and 10 years applies to these items, but only if I fork over $300.00 for the labor. This was not one of Samsung's best products. Gave it 2 stars for the 18 months of service (rounded up from 1.5).

does not remove the water from our clothes,

Submitted by seacaptain - 2/15/2019

I bought this washer in Oct 2018. The first one I had was great lasted us 12 years and is why we bought the same model. This machine has a pump problem -will not remove the water from the load. We can only use half or less of a load. Towels are still wet causing our dryer to work twice as long to dry. Still there is dampness in Jeans. So We are not happy with this discovery. We will see if SamSung can correct the problem.

Love at First Wash, Flaws as relationship grows

Submitted by TooShortToReach - 2/6/2019

First let me say- I love this washer. I loved it for a month while it was at Lowes and I was walking past it almost every single day. I'd glance over, and there it was... all new and shiny and just sending me the signals. I knew this was going to be a total soul mates story. When I finally made my move, Lowes tried to prolong our courtship making me wait almost 2 weeks for delivery. I paced the basement endlessly waiting for the arrival day which happened to be my birthday. The big moment happened while I was at work, and I rushed home to formalize this new relationship by tossing in as many pairs of jeans as two teenage boys can wear in a 48 hours period (this would be NINE pairs for those of you who don't have teenage sons). I set the cycle, the water temp, and with nervous fingers hit the start button. *Okay, the sudden spray of water jetting out the top inside sounded as if my husband had maybe failed to tighten something on the backside, and I freaked for a moment screaming all sorts of profanities before realizing the water was safely contained INSIDE the machine. He's been married to me a long time, so he was in no way shocked or offended that I assumed he had done something wrong. The load completes after 28 minutes. I can feel the LOVE growing. I'm picturing myself, 20 years from now, proudly showing my grandkids how true love and laundry can be combined. As my day dreams of my future with the wa7450 take over, I reach in to grab the clothes (which are btw going into a matching dryer that had also just arrived but which gets way less love because its just a dryer) and.... I grab nothing. As in not one thing. I look, the jeans are there, all curled up at the bottom. I reach again, still nothing. And then it hits me... I'm too short to reach inside the washing machine and reach the clothes. I know I am short, but I am not THAT short. 5'3 isn't THAT short. But OK. So I drag a stool out from back when my kids were once too short to reach normal things... and I reach into the depths of the washer and O M G I am STILL too short. I called a 17 year old child of mine down, and sadly asked him to finish the laundry, and he was like "LOL you bought your washer from the big and tall section and not the short chick section". Really, I completely love this washer and dryer set, I love that its Samsung, I love the design, the sleek look, I love the features. I just wish I was taller. Or had a taller stool.

Great machine until it broke

Submitted by mlrod10 - 2/6/2019

We loved our washer, it did its job superbly, until it broke the month the warranty was up. We feel that we used it regularly about 2-3 loads a week. Customer service was exceptional but unfortunately we are not happy that it broke just as the warranty was ending. In speaking with customer service, they did not have local technicians so we have to wait extra time for samsung to find a service tech to come out to our location. Another downside is that when the warranty is over they will not cover another breakage and that when they work on the machine they will not guarantee the work performed. We went with this washer because I had high expectations for their products but as a customer I am feeling pretty let down by Samsung.

Horrible washer!!!!!

Submitted by Cookinwithginger - 1/2/2019

I doubt that Samsung will let this review be posted, but here goes. I have had this washer for 3 days and had plenty of loads of wash to experiment on this model. I have come to the conclusion that it is more concerned with using less water then it is in getting my clothes clean. It consistently will only put enough water in that can cover the lower half of my clothes. It has been calibrated as the instructions say. I have played with the settings and unless I set it at high soil, deep wash, and extra rinse then my clothes don't get enough water. It would not be a problem to only have half the amount of water, but the clothes that start on top stay on top, never getting worked into the water. In other words they get wet but not agitated, just take a ride on top. I am very disappointed and will never but a Samsung washer again. And yes I did call support, they are the ones that told me all the extra settings to set to get more water.

It is ok

Submitted by Sukri - 12/6/2018

Have had this machine for 3 months. Pros: Water bill has come down. Looks great and sleek. Washes clothes well. Even impeller is stainless steel. Clothes do not tangle unless they are long sheets or I feel we had a unbalanced load during the cycle. Cons: We have 2 problems. 1. The drum is very large but the capacity to handle heavy clothes such as jeans, comforters, blankets is very poor. Can't put more than 1 comforter or 2 fleece blankets in it. Goes off balance with Ur signal. 2. Heavy clothes do not spin dry well requiring multiple drying cycles. Load siZe needs to be medium for the washer to work. The moisture content in clothesafter the spin cycle ends is higher than it was in my older high efficiency kenmore washer. As such my dryer runs longer sometimes multiple cycles for towels and jeans and beddings. So cost on gas goes up. (My older washer wrung clothes so well that I put mixed clothes and tumble dryed all clothes in low heat) but this washer has more moisture in the clothes preventing me from washing mixed clothes and I have to use high heat to dry cotton. Also The washer is large. If I have to wait for Like clothes wash, I need to accumulate dirty laundry for days together since drum is so large. I am nearing end of 90 days return policy and contemplating if to return or keep considering there are negative reviews with just about every machine. Costco arranged for Samsung to send out a repair specialist yesterday who said he saw no problem. He told me to put medium loads not too heavy or too light loads. Told me to use less soap than I used to. Told me to wash jeans with towels instead with everyday wear, blankets and comforters under 'heavy duty' instead of 'bedding'. He said there are too many sensors and we need to figure out which setting works best for our laundry. I do however put heavy clothes at bottom and lighter ones on top. Also I put the clothes loose and do not press them down. That helps a bit. Overall I am a bit disappointed that it does not handle large loads well. I had a Samsung back home in a different country, same impeller technology, lasted 20 years and not once had to call for repair but this one giving problem from day 1. Will not recommend this purchase.

Product defect and poor service

Submitted by Yamaha245 - 11/21/2018

I bought this product thinking i was getting a quality washer and would get good service and many years out of it, i didnt even have it for a couple of weeks before the tub sounded like it was gonna blow out of it. This has been a on going issue for a couple months now and samsung has still not fixed my concern. We keep getting the round a bout reaponses on getting it fixed/looked at again seeing the first time they sent a repair specialist out and they canceled the work order, now we cant even get them out to look at it and fix it (as at times it gets so bad i have to bring my family to the other end the house as im scared somebody will get hurt from this machine). I would not recommend this product to anybody looking for a washer, and as of now i would not recommend a product by samsung period because of there lack of customer service.

Great Washer

Submitted by John B - 11/17/2018

I have owned the washer for a year now after Black Friday Purchase. I replaced a frontloader. I am happy how well the machine works and that it is low maintenance. Since it holds so much, the tub is pretty deep and a step stool may make it easier to get all of the items out for those who are vertically challenged.

A bad purchase

Submitted by sadrobert - 11/17/2018

I bought the washer and dryer less than a month ago and wish I hadn't. The washer often fills with a water level 3 to 4 inches below the top of the clothes level. I think there maybe a water level sensor problem. Samsung tells me it is an installation problem and/or a vendor problem and will not send a technician to resolve the issue.I set a dryer load on an auto cycle - the timer showed more than an hour drying time. When the timer showed a remaining 37 minutes until the load would be done, I paused the cycle to find the clothes fully dry. Any machine can have a defect, but Samsung's unwillingness to provide service is unacceptable.

Nice big tub ! Loud, no smart home features.

Submitted by Swooper - 11/3/2018

Had to have it serviced within two weeks of buying it. The washer would lock but never start. The wife constantly causes the UL unbalanced load error so it just beeps incessantly. She's getting better. You can't put baskets or anything on top without scratching the glass. It's very loud ( it's been leveled by myself and the install tech and the service tech). Claims to be smart, but it's not. There are no smart home feature, none. Only an app that tries to read the error code on washer lcd display, and fails. It takes longer to point your phone camera and open the app then to Google the error code. Luckily I've looked up so many, I have them memorized. All that being said, it's been going strong for about a year straight.

Great job cleaning, not overly noisy

Submitted by WNCChip - 11/1/2018

Our Samsung washer is exceeding our expectations. Clothes come out clean, the machine cycles are not too noisy so e can go about our day. Huge capacity makes for less loads too. Would recommend this washer for sure! The tub is a bit deep so my wife (at 4'11") needs a footstool to retrieve the clothes after the wash is done.

Great machine

Submitted by cjstealth67 - 11/1/2018

Bought this along with a Samsung dryer to replace our aging units (25+ years old). They work great, I find I'm doing less loads of clothes. The plus side is that I've noticed a decrease in my water and electricity bill, so it's literally paying for itself. Would suggest to anyone.

Bought this Washer a year ago with great success. So far it has been as advertised. If it continues to be as good as the last year I will recommend highly.

Simple quiet happy

Submitted by DiverDan - 10/31/2018

Have had this unit for about 6 months and have no complaints. I was concerned about it not having an agitator however very dirty clothes are cleaned to like new. Very quiet and many features to fit any type or size of load. Only concern is it is a deep reach to the bottom of washer. But that was easily overcome with a grabber. I would purchase again.
