known to be defective

One word - Samsung. April 20th the new appliance was delivered, replacing a 5 year old whirlpool washer that the weld on the drum broke (should have been a sign). June 23, the machine stops working mid cycle. There was not re-setting the machine including pulling the plug. Called the seller of the appliance who said it was under the manufacturers 1 year warrant and I should contact the manufacturer. This is on a Sunday when we are trying to get the weekly wash complete. The phone # I called said to call back during normal business hours or go on line to schedule repairs. Online, I was able to set an appt. with designated local Whirlpool repair for the next day - Monday between noon and 4:00. The repair service did not make the appt. When I called to find out why the excuse was "I thought I called...". Set another appt for the next day after 2:30 PM. Technician called at noonish to say he wasn't able to stick around my end of town til 2:30 and asked what the complete model # was so he could order the necessary parts for repair. Apparently this machine has know failure based on system & model. Now, for a brand new machine, according to Whirlpool, the pump required to fix the machine isn't available until 7/13. In the conversation w/ Whirlpool, they had no concern with the fact that we will be hand washing or going to a laundromat until the machine is repaired. As the technician didn't actually analyze the machine, there is no guarantee the parts will actually fix the machine. Why wouldn't "the worlds leading manufacturer of appliances" have replacement parts for, what is apparently, a machine with known failures. An auto manufacturer would probably be issuing a recall based on similar circumstance. Granted, it is only July 8 and I am still waiting on parts and "service" but Whirlpool asked for this review. It is still my belief that this experience with Whirlpool is unacceptable, bordering on outrageous
